Do you want to be involved?
Gedling Play Forum is only able to run because of the generosity of our volunteers. On average, the team in the Resource Centre give 100 hours a week sorting and pricing stock, preparing for events, looking after our garden and carrying out essential administrative tasks. Events, on average, require 75-80 volunteer hours per event: this includes preparation, set-up/take-down and activity delivery.
We always welcome new volunteers. With a range of opportunities, there is always something that you could offer, whether it is one-off, regular or less frequent. Some of the current opportunities are:
We need to redecorate the resource centre, and from time to time need fixes and tweaks to our base. If you are happy and willing to wield a paintbrush or roller, please get in touch. There will be other regular maintenance tasks too.
Helping at Events
Volunteers are needed to help us prepare and deliver activities at our events. The events are held throughout the year and enable us to take our creative support out into the community.
Setting Up Events
If hard graft is more your thing, then perhpas you could help us set up for the events. We always need help putting up and taking down the marquees and loading and unloading equipment. Yes, it is hard work, but really rewarding!
We rely on generous donations from local suppliers to help keep the scrap store fully stocked. We need someone to research and negotiate with potential suppliers for our scrap store. You will also build and maintain relationships with the suppliers.
We are heavily involved in the local community and always have need for people preapred to do a bit of lifting, collecting and delivering. Whether it is picking up supplies, or helping out with foodbanks, if you can lift and drive, we’d love to hear from you.
Our fundraising team will be responsible for assisting our Resource Centre Coordinator and management team in raising money for the charity through a variety of channels, e.g. sourcing prizes for raffles and tombolas, organising fundraising events, promoting Gedling Lotto and Easyfundraising.
